7 Dollar Popcorn Presents The 7 Dollar Popcorn FILMuary Extravaganza: 28 Days of Movie Mayhem Presents, Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan.
Borat, as you may know, is the fictional story of a man from Kazakhstan coming to America to make a documentary for his people back home.
It's sort of a "mockumentary" like Spinal Tap or A Mighty Wind only not as good. That's not to say that it isn't funny. There are certainly moments that are funny. Like when he accidentally turns on the music in his ice cream truck and the bear kinda growls out the window when the kids come running up. Or, when he is trying to learn manners for a dinner party and ends up inviting a prostitute.
A lot of things though? Just, not. Like trying to meet people in New York, or the bull in a china shop shit.
I don't know. The naked fighting, not so getting onto a crowded elevator, kind of funny. And it goes like that. Some of it is kinda funny. Most of it though is just so over the top that it's just crude and uninteresting. I mean, this shit was funny when it was on Jackass, but now, maybe my tastes have just changed too much, but I just don't find it to be that funny. Maybe it was the hype surrounding the movie and the whole thing about Sasha Baron Cohen being a genius. But, it was just, painful to watch.
I just wasn't impressed. 2 chickens on the subway out of 10.
