Monster Movie Poster Monday

I'm not usually one for taking vacations. I take my time off of work, don't get me wrong, but it's rare for me to go out of town or anything. I mean, I travel a lot for work, why would I do it for fun?

I guess because it is fun. It was nice to get out of Detroit for a few days and go out to Salt Lake City. I had a really good time. I came back sick, but I had fun while I was out there. Getting sick when I got home is the bad part though. I mean, who wants to be sick when they're on vacation? Seriously. This sucks.

So, here I am, hopped up on cold medication hoping that I come off as coherent this week. I don't want to make excuses for my writing, I mean, I know it's not great on a good day, but if it makes less sense than usual, you can blame me for filling myself with more over the counter medications than a meth lab.

And, I know I've posted a Rodan poster before (as part of my review), this one is slightly different though. And, it's pretty f-n sweet. Rodan is available as part of a two pack now with War of the Gargantuas. It's a nice little set but devoid of special features, which really sucks. I mean, if two movies ver really cried out for a making of or commentary, it's these two.

Monster Movie Poster Monday

Not much to say today. Just a poster for you. And, it's pretty sweet.

Actually, wait, there is something. 7 Dollar Popcorn is now on Facebook! Now you can tell all your friends that you're a fan of 7dp just by clicking a button...and signing up...and having friends! I have no idea what else I can or will do with it. I'm sure I'll tie it in somehow though. I wonder if 7dp should get a MySpace next...

Monster Movie Poster Monday

You woke up today, wondering aloud, just what DID WMAP find?

There is only one force in the universe that could be so powerful...

Monster Movie Poster Monday

Not much to say this week. The poster is pretty sweet though. I would watch this movie based solely on the poster.

Monster Movie Poster Monday: The Return of Shark Week

It seems like just yesterday that I was lamenting the fact that I didn't have cable and would, therefore, miss Shark Week on the Discovery Channel. It was then that I decided to hell with them! I'd have a shark week of my own! I'd watch crappy shark attack movies and talk about them online! I'd show the Discovery Channel! I could survive without them!

Well, here it is a year later and I still don't have cable.  Another year without the Discovery Channel's informative shark related programming. And another week of less informative shark programming for me!

Jaws 3-D. The only movie from the Jaws series that I haven't watched yet. And I will watch it this week, because you can't have Shark Week at $7 Popcorn without a Jaws movie!

Monster Movie Poster Monday

Over the weekend, I went to the Detroit Film Theatre and saw a double feature of Sinbad movies. So, I figured it would be a good idea to do a double feature here, too.

Monster Movie Poster Monday

And I'm you're back from outer space I just walked in to find you here with that sad look upon your face I should have changed my stupid lock I should have made you leave your key if I had known for just one second you'd be back to bother me

Ok, so I didn't go to 'outer space' or even leave the state of Michigan over the weekend. Nothing cool like that at all. All I did was hang out downtown, ride my bike, drive with the top down and read a couple books. Actually, now that I think about it...it was a pretty cool weekend. Sure, I didn't see a bald eagle flying around like some people I know, but I did get a good view of the back of George Clinton's drummer's head. And, you know, that's good enough for me.

This week's poster is from 1964's First Men in the Moon. An adaptation of the HG Wells novel of the same name (and not the first adaptation either, for that you'd have to go back to 1919...I don't think that it had much of a poster for me to post though). And, of course, Dynamation can only mean one thing, effects by Ray Harryhausen.

Monster Movie Poster Monday

I just realized that I'm now up to 400 posts. And it only took 2 and a half year! I don't know if I should be excited or depressed. Lets go with excited, that always feels better!

This King Kong poster is the last of the ones I picked up at the comic con all those weeks ago.

Monster Movie Poster Monday

Ok. Actually...no poster today. I just got back from LA at about 8am, I'm tired and annoyed with...well...everything. But, I had a ton of fun in LA and even got to see the coolest star on the walk of fame. I was pretty excited about it. I mean, who would have thought that Godzilla had a star!

Monster Movie Poster Monday

Almost getting to the end of the stuff I bought at the comic con.

Not quite as cool as the sketch, but still pretty awesome.

Monster Movie Poster Monday

Ok, I'll admit, it's not a poster. But, it's a holiday today and that means that...well, I take most days off around here, but I'm going to post something cool. I picked this up at the comic con I mentioned last week. It's a sketch from 20 Million Miles to Earth.

See, that's friggin sweet.

Monster Movie Poster Monday

I went to the Motor City Comic Con on Saturday. It's the Detroit attempt to...I don't know, it's really pretty lame and it gets worse every year. It's a shame, too. It used to be fun. Oh well. While I was there though, I did find some small replicas of posters for a few Ray Harryhausen movies. They were 8 1/2" X 11" photopaper prints that look pretty cool in a frame on my wall.

Among them was this poster for the 1955 film, It Came From Beneath the Sea. This, of course, is the one about the giant octopus attacking San Francisco. It seems like a good poster for this week since I just got back from SF last Friday.

Monster Movie Poster Monday

Not much to say about this one. Godzilla, 1955, featuring Perry Mason (before he was Perry Mason). I'm trying to get ready to leave for San Francisco tomorrow morning. That should be fun, though completely irrelevant to this post. You know what else I'm doing? Trying to book a trip to LA the first week in June. Yeah, see, how's that for personal insight. Ok, I'm done sharing now.

Monster Movie Poster Mondays

If you've ever hard the burning desire to visit Urbana, IL...reconsider. It's a nice enough town, but, it's kinda...eh. It's better than Muncie, IN...that's not saying much though. Oh well.

It's Cinco de Mayo today, so lets all grab a margarita (or a señorita NAMED Margarita), or the drink of your choice and remember the victory of General Ignacio Zaragoza Seguín over those pesky French in the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. Here's to you, Iggy!

This weeks poster isn't REALLY a poster. It's the work of Kevin Dart at Fleet Street Scandal. I've been a fan of those guys for a while now and have bought a couple pieces by Kevin and Chris Turnham (it was called chicken abduction, it's no longer available on their site though).

Monster Movie Poster Monday

Okay. Sure. Technically...NOT a monster movie, I guess. At least, not in the way one might think. No 80 ft tall beasts trampling through cities or anything, but it is the type of movie in which the monster is US! Or something. As you may have heard, Chuck died over the weekend. He was 83. I never met him, but I liked a couple of his movies.

Monster Movie Poster Monday

Back in town for a couple of weeks now, so it's time to rededicate myself to...well...myself, I guess? Aw, hell. I don't know. I guess it's a fancy way of saying that I missed you, or something. Maybe I don't know what I'm saying at all. It's hard to say.

I was supposed to visit a friend of mine this evening and she wanted to watch some Godzilla. I asked her which one, and she said 'one with Mothra.' Again, I asked 'which one?'

Regardless, she found herself quite ill today and was on her way to get herself checked out and needed to postpone our Godzilla / Mothra slugfest. For her though, I post this Mothra poster and hope that she feels better soon.

Monster Movie Poster Monday

Yeah, I know. I'm one of the only people you know who actually liked the movie. Here you go though, 1998's American Godzilla.

Monster Movie Poster Monday

I know I haven't been fulfilling my end of the bargain here...I try, but if I'm out of town, I can't always get something up when I want to.

This week it's the German poster for Godzilla vs Monster Zero.
