Standing in the footprints of Hollywood

Okay, this is the last picture post about my trip to Hollywood. Next time, I'm totally going to post about something else. Today though, I want to wrap it up with some of the foot/hand prints from outside Grauman's Chinese Theatre.

Like the Walk of Fame, there are a few goofy ones (Donald Duck? Really?). It's still really cool though to stand in the forecourt looking at all the names.

Humphrey Bogart

Abbott and Costello

Star Wars

Chuck Heston

Sean Connery

All in all, Hollywood was kind of a neat place, and I'm glad I got to go see it. A big thank you to my friend (and frequent commenter) Kate for driving me out there and loaning me her camera after mine broke.

On the walk of fame

Ok, sure, getting a star on the Walk of Fame is about as difficult as getting a Slurpee at 7-11 (granted a really EXPENSIVE Slurpee...but still). All you need is to be nominated, agree to attend a ceremony and fork over $25,000.

I have to admit though, there is still something kind of cool about it. I didn't think I would be all that excited about it. But, I got down there and, well, I really kind of was. It's fun walking down Hollywood Blvd looking at the stars, seeing many that you're a fan of. Seeing the old names and the new. Sure, Britney Spears has a star. Puff Daddy has a star. Mickey Mouse has a star. Yeah, it's a little weird. The old Hollywood names though...those are kind of fun to see.

Boris Karloff
Ray Bradbury
Buster Keaton
Myrna Loy
Dick Powell
Ray Harryhausen

And, if nothing else...when you write a movie blog and haven't seen any movies lately, a trip to Hollywood is at least something to write about.

Monster Movie Poster Monday

Ok. Actually...no poster today. I just got back from LA at about 8am, I'm tired and annoyed with...well...everything. But, I had a ton of fun in LA and even got to see the coolest star on the walk of fame. I was pretty excited about it. I mean, who would have thought that Godzilla had a star!

Make like a tree and do that thing

Well, this week didn't go as I had planned. Oh well. That's the way it goes sometimes. I worked more than I wanted to and slept less than I should have. And, while traveling allowed to me to watch a few episodes of Heroes (Save the cheerleader, save the world, baby), I did not actually manage to watch or write about any movies liked I'd hoped to be able to. It's so sad. Tragic even.

I'm off now though, or soon enough. I've got my Final Girl Film Club post to do for Monday, but aside from that, I'm done. I'm on vacation.

Since I know you'll miss me this next week, here's a scene from Clerks II, enjoy!

Oh! As long as I'm doing videos, I may as well hook you up with the trailer for that awesome French movie I watched not to long ago, Ils:

And don't forget, next week is Shark Week here at 7dp! A week full of shark movies, or possibly a big fish movie. And maybe a movie about sushi. Who knows! It'll be crazy and it'll start on the 30th! See ya then!
